Hermeneutics

Hermeneutics is the study of interpretive methods. When people come to the Bible, they bring with them a viewpoint on how the Bible is to be interpreted. This can range from a very sophisticated viewpoint like Covenantalism or dispensationalism or it might be, in the case of many these days, an eclectic viewpoint derived from one’s experiences in life, traditions, culture, temperament and so on. The point is that everyone has a viewpoint – a framework – that tends to superimpose itself on the text of Scripture. Of course we all believe we have a biblical viewpoint when it comes to interpreting the Bible. But is there a hermeneutic that the Bible itself espouses that is essential in understanding the message of the Bible? I believe that there is as described in the video below.
